Fashion Illustrations

Fashion illustration - My favorite way to enjoy the fancy combination of drawing and Fashion

Get to know Fashion Illustration

Fashion illustration or Fashion sketching, either digital or hand-drawn, is an art form communicating fashion ideas by using visual arts. The illustrations may origninate from other people's ideas and even "what's on the catwalk" or the authors' orignal ideas (in this case, it can be referred as Fashion design). Like other forms of artwork, there are no limitation to what method or material used in fashion illustration.

I personally prefer creating new designs to solely illustrating and this gallery will show you how a basic fashion sketch is created. Are you curious about what is needed to create a fashion illustration?

Yes, sure!

My favorite tools

Canson grain paper A4

This paper's weight is 180gsm, which makes it suitable for both water color and markers even though it's not too thick. Moreover, it's affordable.

Tombow mechanical pencil

This pencil has 0.3 lead, which is great for detailing. What's unique about it is that, you can get the lead out just by shaking the pencil. A small eraser is also featured.

Pentel 2B 0.3mm lead refills

Pentel is well known for high quality stationery and this is no exception. This pack has 15 refills only yet lasts a long time.

Faber Castell 48 Watercolor pencils

Faber Castell has been famous for its art supplies, especially color pencils for a long time. I prefer watercolor pencils to regular color pencils due to their flexibility. Watercolor pencils can be used as either normal pencils or watercolors. A free brush is also provided.

Finecolour Brush marker

This marker is known as a "dupe" of the famous Copic marker with a much lower price, which makes it suitable for amateurs or art learners. It has a brush and a broad end as noted on the marker itself. The quality is decent for what you pay, although it cannot be refilled like a Copic marker. The range of color is also not so wide but it can blend pretty well so it is easy to mix colors.

Marvy Uchida Fineliner 003

This fineliner with absolutely fine lead is really useful for lining details . It is also much more affordable than the renowned Copic Fineliner. However, it cannot be refilled.

Sakura Gelly Roll 1.0mm

I usually use this gel pen to add some effects or illustrate laces. It's cheap yet does its job.

Pentel Ain plastic eraser

I know you may be like "Meh, just an eraser!" but you know what? An eraser can either save or completely ruin your work! This eraser is soft, easy to use, no "black" smudge as it might seem to cause and it never tears your paper! And it's inexpensive, too.
